KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Saturday held a demonstration against the Karachi Electric (KE) over inflated power bills and prolonged power outages.
JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman led the protest rally against the power utility in front of the Governor’s Houser, and warned authorities concerned of a backlash if they try to stop the demonstration. He also warned the KE against excessive billing.
He asked the power utility to rectify its mistakes, and threatened the KE of dire consequences if it fails to do so.
A large number of protesters chanted anti-KE slogans while the surrounding roads witnessed severe traffic jams during the protest.
