PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that talks with the Taliban will be held.
“Talks can be held with anyone,” he said, while talking to the media on Tuesday when three explosions killed at least five people. “But that does not mean we will bow down before the Taliban.”
The governor added that the wave of terrorism is a challenge for this government, maintaining that the army has managed to deal with terrorism to a great extent.
The explosions took place in Tangi tehsil of Charsadda where at least five people were killed and over 12 injured.
Meanwhile, in a statement issued to the media afterwards, the Governor House explained that Jhagra’s hint of “talks with anyone” was not for the Taliban.
Taliban is an outlawed terrorist group and no negotiations can be held with it, the statement read.
