Karachi: The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the imprisoned Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)’s leader and owner of Ziauddin Hospital, Dr Asim Hussain, and others on the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)’s plea against them for allegedly encroaching upon an amenity plot for its parking.
A two member bench, headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, was hearing the petition filed by the late Rana Faizul Hassan, former secretary general of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, who had sought the removal of alleged encroachments made by the hospital’s management in North Nazimabad.
In response to the court notice, the NAB filed its report, according to which Ziauddin Hospital’s management had encroached upon the amenity plot meant for a hockey ground next to its North Nazimabad’s branch and used it for commercial activities such as parking.
As per an investigation into the matter, the allegations of the petitioner proved correct and the offence has been established, the bureau added. After going through the NAB report, the bench issued notices to Dr Asim; Ziauddin Hospital’s deputy managing director, Karachi Development Authority (KDA)’s director, two former and one current XEN of North Nazimabad, and others to respond to the allegations leveled against them.
