ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister on Monday said the recent policies of the United States being executed by the Trump administration will adversely affect international unity against terrorism.
President Donald Trump on Friday put a four-month hold on incoming refugees and temporarily barred travelers from Syria and six other Muslim-majority countries, saying the moves would help protect Americans from terrorist attacks.
The interior minister, while speaking to media in Islamabad said, “The new US visa policy will not affect terrorists, rather it will increase the woes of people affected from terrorism.”
He further added, “It will harm international unity and harmony among the world fraternity against terrorism.”
Nisar was of the view that linking Islam to terrorism was an insult to the struggle made by Muslims against this menace. He said, “There are around 1.5 billion Muslims around the world and all of them cannot be blamed for the misdeeds of a few hundreds.”
The interior minister’s statements come a day after a top White House official on Sunday suggested that Pakistan could be added to the list of countries whose visitors are banned from entry to the United States.
