Exiled Baloch leader Harbiyar Marri is among 13 people booked for Friday’s attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi.
First information report (FIR) of the attack on the consulate has been lodged at the Counter Terrorism Department police station in Karachi. State is the complainant in the FIR.
In the FIR, Harbiyar Marri faces the charges of masterminding and facilitating the attack. Others named in the FIR included Mian Aslam alias Achu alias Meeraq Baloch, Bashir Zaib, Noor Bakhsh Mengal, Kareem Marri, Captain Rehman Gul, Commander Nisar and Commander Gaindi.
Also on Saturday, the law enforcement agencies claimed to have arrested two suspected facilitators of the terrorists who attacked Chinese consulate in Karachi on Friday. The suspects were arrested from Karachi and Shahdadpur, some 190 kilometres from the metropolis, and are being interrogated at an undisclosed location. One of the arrested suspects is reportedly the last person whom the terrorists had contacted via phone before the attack unfolded at the consulate. Identities of the suspects have not been revealed as yet. Police has also taken the owner of the vehicle used by the terrorists into custody and has hinted at a breakthrough in the case in the next 24 hours.
Intelligence agencies carried out operation in different parts of Karachi Friday night and arrested at least 10 suspects. The raids were held in Lyari, Baldia Town, Sohrab Goth and Orangi Town areas. Police has also identified the attackers. The first terrorist has been recognized as Abdur Razzaq Baloch son of Din Muhammad, a government employee and resident of Balochistan’s Kharan area. His family had cut ties with him in 2014 due to his criminal activities. The second terrorist has been identified as Azal Khan Mari alias Sangat Dada, while the third attacker has been identified as Raees Baloch. On Saturday, a security guard who was injured in the attack on the consulate revealed that the assailants had earlier visited the premises of the building disguised as civilians.
