Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday announced the postponement of the All Parties Conference (APC), convened by his party, for a few days.
Talking to media, Fazlur Rehman said that a high-level meeting of his party had decided to convene a parliamentary leaders’ meeting ahead of the APC to finalize the modalities of the “all-important” meeting.
He maintained that the PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman Asif Zardari would participate in parliamentary leaders’ conference.
It is pertinent to mention here that the differences between two major opposition parties -PPP and PML-N- had turned the prospects of a successful APC bleak.
Sources said, in order to patch up with the PPP, the leadership of PML-N had put forward the need to restore trust as its foremost precondition.
PML-N leadership had conditioned its participation in the opposition’s APC as the former ruling party was enraged over the recent statement of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, in which he held PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif responsible for the cases against PPP leaders.
The PML-N had demanded the leadership of PPP to first take steps to mend the trust deficit developed in the wake of recent political scenario.
