ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mian Saqib Nisar on Tuesday took a sou moto notice of zero power generation by Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power and Bhikki power plants.
The CJP asked for a reply from the federal and the Punjab governments regarding zero generation of electricity at Bhikki power plant.
While taking notice of the two plants, he remarked that the Bhikki power plant had not produced even a single megawatt of electricity.
The CJP ordered, “The Punjab government built power companies and should submit a reply over their progress.”
Nisar also talked about the emergence of different cases regarding power shortage from other plants as well.
Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Limited is a public sector for-profit company established by the Punjab government. It was the first ever utility scale solar power plant in the country and started commercial operations in 2015.
The first unit of the project was inaugurated in 2015 by former premier Nawaz Sharif in Bahawalpur.
