NAUDERO: Out of 409 students of various schools in Naudero, as many as five kids were found to be suffering from hepatitis B. Larkana Integrated Health Services (IHS) District Coordinator Dr Khalil Ahmed Katpar said that a programme of school health Initiative had been launched in the district.
He said that in Ratodero, as many as 50,000 students between 7-14 years age group would be screened and provided preventive hepatitis vaccines. He said Larkana would be next after this and Bakrani Dokri would be screened as well. We will be administering preventive vaccination, he said. In this connection an awareness rally was taken out by students of various schools. The programme was inaugurated by Commissioner Muhammad Abbas Baloch. He said that preventive vaccines would be provided under chief minister’s programme for prevention and control of hepatitis in Sindh. He said all students of government and private schools between 7-14 years would be screened and vaccinated once every month which would continue for three months.
Kids who are detected positive would be provided free treatment at relevant centres. He said all deputy commissioners of Larkana Division had been directed to start similar programmes in their respective districts. Larkana DC Kashif Ali Tipu said that lack of cleanliness and contaminated drinking water was the main reason for the spread of hepatitis.
