ISLAMABAD: MNA Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Monday that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had turned into a party based on self-interests.
Talking to the media on Monday, the PML-N leader criticised his own party, including Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. “I shouldn’t have had mentioned the danger of formation of technocratic government. The PM shouldn’t have brought up technocratic government. It will be huge loss if elections are delayed,” he said.
The former minister said that he had expressed his concerns in the party meeting. He said that there were two groups in PML-N. “One supports reconciliation and the other wants resistance. There is no rift in the party. There is only difference of opinion,” he said.
“There should be damage control after the loss rather than confrontation with the apex court. Appeal can be filed against the court’s decision and one can criticise it. However, confrontation is not recommended,” he said.
“The ruling party should avoid speeches on Panama case and the Supreme Court,” he said.
Nisar compared the current political scenario with the situation in 1970. “Today’s conditions are much difficult than that of 1970. In 1970, there was danger from only one country, but today we are threatened by many,” he said.
He pointed out that the ruling party was paying less attention on foreign policy matters, including US policy review for South Asia and Afghanistan under Trump administration. He suggested that the leaders of ruling party should come out of their “confused state”.
