ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that gone are the days when election results were stolen, asserting that no returning officer will be allowed to rob PPP of its victory in the general election this time around.
While addressing a meeting of party officer bearers and ticket holders from Rawalpindi Division, Bilawal said that PPP had a glowing history as its leadership and workers had proved to be the bravest and most dedicated members of any political party. He said that the PPP leaders and workers never feared prison, lashes and hangings.
The PPP chief said the cowards cannot face PPP workers who have gone through bomb blasts and suicide attacks, adding that workers are the heirs of the philosophy and mission of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
Bilawal said that former president Asif Ali Zardari during his tenure restored 1973 Constitution to its original form, thus fulfilling the mission of Benazir Bhutto.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Khursheed Shah said that the arrest of Sindh former information minister Sharjeel Memon had tarnished the image of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) itself.
“Memon was not charged by the NAB … he returned to the country to face courts, yet he was arrested in a shameful manner,” he said. He called on the NAB chairman to take notice of the way the arrest was carried out.
The opposition leader stressed that ups and downs come in politics, but it is essential to ensure that democracy is not derailed.
