LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Thursday expressed anger over the Panchayat rape incident in Multan, stating that the Lahore High Court (LHC) could provide speedy justice in the case.
In a statement issued on Thursday, he said that the rulers were busy in their efforts to save their rule. “They do not have time to listen to the cries of the innocent girl,” he said.
He said that Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah should take sou moto notice and then send the case to the Anti-Terrorism Court. “The culprits should be awarded exemplary punishment. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif only takes notice of such incidents for the sake of the media,” he said.
Shujaat expressed the hope that LHC Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah should set a bright example in the world by stringently punishing the culprits involved in this incident according to the law.
“An innocent girl was being raped while the members of the panchayat looked on,” he said. He said that the government should ensure that the culprits were given punishment without any delay.
