KARACHI: A group of professors and lecturers using the name of Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) illegally, has also created numerous barriers in the promotions
of the serving colleges’ faculty members, said Professor Mohammad Yaqoob Chandio al
ong with office-bearers Professor Sayed Shabahat Raza, Professor Aslam Parvez and others while addressing a joint press conference at Karachi Press Club.
“There is no endorsed managing body of SPLA since 2013 while its registration authority, the joint stock companies working under the ministry of commerce and industries, has also been admonished the so- called office-bearers used the name of SPLA”, they stressed, added that Counter Ter
rorism Department of Sindh police has recently presented report
of the cheating scam to the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in which CTD exposed those beguilers.
Professor Feroz Siddiqui, who claims to be the president of so-called SPLA, is using the platform for his own interests. His son has secured A-plus position in the annual examination conducted under the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) last year for which he was incapable, they blamed.
“SPLA represented around 10 thousand faculty members
of the government colleges
across Sindh and its name should not be used for such illegal activities” said Professor Mohammad Yaqoob Chandio, demanded that concerned authorizes should take action against these culprits who have been exposed in cheating scam by the name of SPLA.
The participants
of the press conference also appreciated the an
nulment of Removal Ordinance (RSO) 2000 by the Sindh government. “It was a black law and ever a hanging sword for the employees of education department”, said Professor Sayed Shabahat Raza, added that they had filed a petition against the SRO in Sindh High Court but provincial government has taken action before the decision
of the court which is definitely marvelous.
He said we are also trying to implement time scale formula for the awaited promotions of colleges’ teacher reminiscent of time scale formula implemented in Balochistan. “Same formula has been implemented in Sindh for schools’ teachers, while in number
of the colleges’ teachers are only four percent out
of the total employees working at Schools Education Department and Colleges Education Department”, Raza pointed out, added that teacher
of the government colleges are deprived
of their basic right of promotion despite the government had awarded time scale formula to 96 percent schools’ teacher.
The Former Finance Minister and current Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali had approved the time scale formula for the colleges’ teachers in 2010 but provincial government is reluctant to implement it, he pointed out, added that they have approached the Sindh Minister for Education Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar and Secretary College Education Pervez Ahmed Seehar and presented them time scale formula but yet no tangible outcome has been observed.
They demanded that the department should immediately release the seniority list of all collges’ teachers form grade 17 to grade 20 and promotions
of the librarians awaited for last 10 years should be also considered by the provincial government on priority basis. Vacant posts in the department and educational boards
across Sindh should be filled in by deploying senior faculty members and serving employees as per set of laws.
