DADU: A team of irrigation officials visited the Phaka Shakh to inspect the ongoing work of lining of Phaka Shakh. They were led by SE-Superintendent Engineer irrigation Dadu and engineer irrigation Dadu Abdul Ghani Qureshi.
SE-Superintendent Engineer Irrigation department Dadu, Sajid Ali Bhutto while briefing to newsmen at the site on Saturday said that that the lining work of 14 miles long of Phaka Shakh (branch) was started to reduce the losses of irrigation water and to supply complete share of water to tail end growers.
He said that after completing this lining work of the Phaka Shakh, the 146 cusecs water would be supplied to the growers for cultivating of the crops and water would be supplied to the parts of Dadu city for drinking purpose.
He said that with the cost of 200 million rupees from ADP-
Annual Development funds government of Sindh, this work of lining of Phaka Shakh was started. He said that with compellation of this Shakh the total 14551 acres land would be cultivated and 20% water losses would be saved.
He said that it was ensured that all tail end growers would receive their complete share of water and cry of water shortage would be end.
Talking on complaints of growers related with usage of sub standard material, he said that it also ensured that construction work of lining of Phaka Shahkh was started with standard material according to estimate and he had not received any complaints related with usage of sub standard.
He said that it was frequently visits and supervision of senior officers at this site. He said that the lining work of three more channels including Khudabad with discharge quantity of 39.30 cusecs, Pipri with discharge quantity of 15.90 and Bakhrani with discharge quantity of 35.90 cusecs would be completed.
He said that the work of lining of Phaka Shakh was started from 20 April and it would be completed in period of 12 months. He said that still its only 6% work was completed because it was starting and it was going on speedily.
He assured that as soon as water will be released into Dadu canal on May 10, the water will be released in to Phaka Shakh. He said that the flowing of water would be continued by parallel and construction work of Phaka Shakh also would be continued.
Meanwhile, Chief Engineer Sukkur Barrage, Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh also visited ongoing work of de-silt program at Dadu canal and inspected it. Chief Engineer Sukkur Barrage directed the irrigation officials to complete the de-silting work of Dadu canal and other structures as water can be released till May 10.
