ISLAMABAD: Seven fishermen who were stranded in Yemen for almost a decade returned home to their families on Friday.
The fishermen belonged to the Karachi and Balochistan coastline. 10 years ago, they had found themselves in international waters after losing their way. They were taken into custody by Yemeni authorities and locked in the central jail of Yemen’s capital Sana’a.
However, following the tireless efforts of the Foreign Office and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the men arrived back home after ages.
The fishermen were greeted at the airport by their families who had been unable to contact them for ten years. Foreign Office and ICRC representatives were also present to welcome them.
