KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued non-bailable warrants of arrest of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Memon in a Rs 5 billion corruption case.
A corruption reference against Sharjeel Memon and others came up for hearing before the SHC on Saturday. The court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Sharjeel because he failed to appear before it.
The counsel for Sharjeel Memon told the court that his client was sick and hospitalized, and could not appear in court in person. The counsel for the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prayed that the PPP leader was not appearing in court deliberately, therefore, his non-bailable arrest warrants be issued.
The counsel for Sharjeel further said that the Sindh High Court had not extended the bail for his client. Earlier, the court had granted bail to him until December 26, 2016. The court adjourned the hearing of the case until January 14.
