Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) leader, Maliha Ali Asghar Khan, was found to be one of the most affluent members of the provinvial assembly (MPAs) with assets worth millions to her name, while another MPA, Asiya Khattak, from the same party, did not own any assets.
According to the details submitted by the MPAs to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), it was found that Maliha owned assets worth Rs 930 million, while Asiya declared nothing in her account which made her the poorest member on the women reserved seats in the assembly.
Maliha, who belonged to Mansehra, holds a bachelors degree in psychology and political science from the Federal College for Women, Rawalpindi. She first became an MPA on the women reserved seats in 2013. Asiya, on the other hand, did her masters in international relations and law from the University of Peshawar. She was elected the district councillor on PTI ticket in the local government elections.
Another MPA, Ayesha Bano was found to be second on the assets-deatil list. She declared that she own assets worth Rs 50 million. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPA, Nighat Orakzai declared 290 tolas of gold in her possession, while Shagufta Malik from Awami National Party (ANP) declared assets worth Rs4.5 million to her name.
