ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday has summoned the Inspector generals (IGs) of all provinces on Friday (July 6) in a case pertaining to the illegal occupancy of the government residences.
During the hearing, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar sought the report on stay orders obtained against the vacation of official residences, also, he summoned record of ongoing cases in the lower courts in this regard.
The additional attorney general informed the court that the provincial IGs were not cooperating regarding the issue.
“In Islamabad alone, 200 official residences have been illegally occupied by police officials,” he added.
He further stated, “We notified IG Islamabad but he is not cooperating with us,” he told the court that the situation in Karachi was similar to Islamabad.
CJP then ordered all IGs to appear before the court either by airplane or helicopter. Responding to this, the attorney general said that it would not be possible for all the provincial IGs to come over and he then requested CJP adjourn the session till Friday.
Mian Saqib adjourned the hearing till July 6 and ordered all IGs to appear in next session.
