LAHORE: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) that was formed to probe the assassination attempt on Ahsan Iqbal has started its investigations.
Sources reported that the team visited the spot where the incident took place and recorded statements of the eye witnesses present at the time of the attack.
The JIT also interrogated the attacker and recorded his statements. The statements of the security guards at the venue were also recorded.
It is important to mention that on Monday, the Punjab government formed a JIT to probe the attack on Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal.
Additional Inspector General (AIG) Rai Tahir is leading the five-member investigation team. Members of intelligence agencies are also part of the team.
The case was registered at Gharib Shah Police Station in Narowal against the attack on the Interior Minister, Ahsan Iqbal. The case was registered under the sections related to murder attempt, terrorism and possession of illegal weapons.
Iqbal was shot on Monday by a suspect named Abid, in his home constituency Narowal.
The minister sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Services Hospital.
