KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) vice president for the central region claimed on Monday night that members of the PPP opened fire on the PTI’s camp in the city’s Hakeem Saeed Ground.
PTI’s Ali Haider Zaidi claimed while talking to journalists, that the PPP attacked the PTI’s workers with stones.
Zaidi further said that Najmi Alam who he suspected was intoxicated, had called almost 70-80 members of the notorious Lyari gang war.
He told the journalists, “Najmi Alam, who was intoxicated, brought Akram Tunari who roamed around pointing pistols at people.”
“Saeed Ghani and an intoxicated Najmi Alam created this dispute. We went to have tea and they attacked the camp during our absence.” he further added.
Zaidi said that he advised his party workers to stand back during the confrontation so as to not aggravate the deteriorating law and order situation.
He reported, “Our workers’ motorcycles and cars were burnt”.
The PTI leader also said that his party’s female workers were sitting in the camp when the confrontation commenced.
The vice president also declared, “We are a peaceful party. The colour red means the colour of a rose to us”.
“We salute the Rangers for bringing peace to Karachi,” He concluded.
