Miftah Ismail on Friday took the oath of Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs.
Before his appointment as finance minister, Mr Ismail was the Prime Minister’s adviser on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs.
His appointment—which was recommended by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and approved by President Mamnoon Hussain—comes just hours before he is set to present the federal budget.
His selection as finance minister is also a rare incident since he is not a member of Parliament.
