BEIJING: China once again came to the defence of Pakistan when it backed Islamabad in the face of Indian Premier Narendra Modi’s remarks that dubbed Pakistan a “terror exporting factory.”
When asked about Mr. Modi’s comments, China’s foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying claimed that terrorism is an enemy of all and the international community should stand in solidarity to end this menace.
She further added,
“We hope the international community will support the efforts Pakistan has made in counter terrorism and will forge effective cooperation with the country in that regard.”
Hua’s comments came ahead of the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) that will be held in Beijing next week.
Narendra Modi had made the ‘exporting terror’ remarks while addressing the ‘Bharat ki Baat, Sabke Saath’ program in the Central Hall Westminster in London on Wednesday, claiming that India would not tolerate those who export terror.
He also referred to the alleged surgical strikes India conducted across the Line of Control (LOC) in 2016, and said that his nation would respond in a similar manner to any terror attacks.
