LODHRAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has accused Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif of directing police to carry out extrajudicial killings.
He was addressing a public gathering in Lodhran as part of party’s campaign for NA-154 by-poll, despite being refrained by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to do so.
Taking a jab at the chief minister, Imran said the incidents of extrajudicial killings had increased in Shehbaz’s tenure.
Abid alias Boxer, a former cop, admitted that he carried out extrajudicial killings on the directives of the chief minister, said Imran.
“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police resolved the rape-murder case of minor Asma without any bloodshed while the Punjab police killed innocent persons during the probe into the Zainab murder case,” said the PTI Chief.
Moreover, he said the cases against the then PTI’s Secretary General Jehangir Khan Tareen were politically motivated. “Tareen did not do any corruption or launder money, ” Imran added.
Earlier, the ECP had directed the PTI chief to refrain from participating in the rally as it violates the commission’s code of conduct.
NA-154 Lodhran’s seat fell vacant after the Supreme Court (SC) disqualified Tareen as the member of the National Assembly under article 62-1 (f).
Now, Ali Tareen, son of PTI’s former secretary general, will be contesting the by-poll scheduled to be held on February 12 on PTI’s ticket.
