MULTAN – Mufti Abdul Qavi on Tuesday appeared before the judicial magistrate’s court in relation to the Qandeel Baloch’s murder case.
Mufti Abdul appeared before Sessions Judge Chaudhry Ameer Muhammad.
But since he appeared in the court without a legal counsel, Mufti Abdul was asked to reappear before the court on Wednesday with legal representation which leads to his case being adjourned for the day.
Qavi told media following his appearance for which he appeared today, that he will appear tomorrow and will continue to cooperate the authorities in regards to his case.
Haq Nawaz and Qandeel’s brother Muhammed Waseem, the other accused in the case are expected to be presented today, said the judge.
Previously non-bailable arrest warrants were issued for the cleric on request of the investigation team who informed the court that cleric was not co-operating with the police.
Qavi informed journalists, that he was always at his madrassah (seminary) and was available to give his full co-operation with the police.
He further added that he has obtained an interim bail, he could not be arrested for this case.
Qandeel Baloch Murder Case
A judicial magistrate court in Multan had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Mufti Abdul Qavi in the Qandeel Baloch murder case on October 12th.
Qavi, who was heavily censored for clicking ‘selfie’ photographs with slain social media celebrity Qandeel, has been investigated in connection with her murder.
He was also suspended from the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after the photographs were published out in the open and became an integral part of the police investigation being carried out into the celebrity’s murder.
The cleric has repeatedly denied any involvement in Qandeel’s murder but had stated that he would present himself to the police for questioning upon being summoned.
