ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said on Tuesday arrangements for 2nd International Message of Islam Conference have been finalised and delegates from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, Egypt and other Muslim countries have reached the capital.
Addressing a press conference at Convention Centre, Ashrafi said that more than 5,000 clerics from all over Pakistan will attend the conference. He said that the Pakistan Ulema Council has been struggling for annihilation of terrorism, extremism and sectarian violence from all over Muslim world. He added that Muslim world was desperately in need of an ideological alliance for eradication of terrorism and extremism. The conference will specifically focus on this issue to devise a mechanism to form “Islamic Ideological Alliance” with consent of the representatives of the Muslim world.
The PUC endorsed Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad and on the eve of the conference clerics and religious organisations would also announce their support for the operation, said Ashrafi.
“It is honour and prestige for Pakistan Ulema Council that Imam-e-Kaaba Al-Sheikh Saleh bin Mohammed Al Talib visited office of Pakistan Ulema Council in Lahore and appreciated endeavours of Pakistan Ulema Council for defense and security of Harmain Al Sharefain.”
Ashrafi added that the conference would prove a milestone for promotion of interfaith harmony and inter-sect coexistence and creating awareness for rights of minorities and women. The conference would also clarify stance of Islam and Muslims to the world for terrorist organisations like ISIS, said the PUC chairman.
On the occasion, Abdul Hameed Wattoo, Abdul Hameed Sabri, Ayub Safdar, Tahir Aqeel, Nauman Hashir, Mumtaz Rabbani, Abdul Hafeez, Idrees Qasmi, Asad Zakaria, Ashfaq Patafi and Shahzad Farooqi were also present.
