KARACHI: Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) on Saturday arrested two teacher’s society members outside Karachi Press Club (KPC) for being allegedly in contact with the leadership of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L).
The teachers society was about to hold a press conference for the release of Dr Hassan Zafar Arif.
Teachers’ society head Dr Riaz, and another member Mehr Afroz Murad, were detained by LEAs. Both were taken to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
Members of teachers’ society in a press conference after arrest of their two associates confirmed their whereabouts remained unknown after 2 pm today.
Representing teachers’ society, Noreen Haider apprised the media that she has no idea whether Dr Riaz and Mehr Afroz were in contact with MQM-L leadership, however, Dr Hassan Zafar Arif has remained their teacher and the society has concerns on his arrest.
“We came to demand release of Professor Dr Hassan Zaffar Arif and now, after arrest of associates, we are demanding release of three people”, she added.
In a similar fashion, Rangers had arrested Prof Dr Hassan Zafar Arif on October 22 outside KPC where he was due to address a press conference.
