PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Engr Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that technical education bears the capacity to rid people of poverty and change the fate of the nation.
He was addressing as the chief guest at the tool kits distribution ceremony amongst the newly trained youth under the arrangements of NAVTEC at the Governor’s House on Friday. Jhagra said, “The Prime Minister’s Skill Development Programme is offering the best opportunities to the youth in getting them employed.”
Chief Secretary Abid Saeed, NAVTEC Chief Executive Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industries President Haji Muhammad Afzal were also present on this occasion besides the graduating students.
While eulogising the services of NAVTEC, the governor said, “It indeed was rendering a very useful and productive role, which also deserved to be appreciated.”
He added that in fact, the importance and usefulness of vocational and skill development is a well acknowledged phenomenon over the world, which had proved to be of great help for certain nations in superseding others.
“Success stories of this sector,” he remarked, “have led to revolutionising the socio-economic life of the nations both in their individual and collective capacities.”
Jhagra said, “We too have pinned great hopes from our institutions of education and training and the government has been putting special concentration in this respect.” He also advised the graduating youth to make the best use of their skills and try to further improve the quality of work.”
Welcoming the presence of the leading entrepreneurs on this occasion, the governor also advised them to play their due role in the development of vocational and skill development institutions.
Earlier, the governor gave away tool kits and certificates to the graduating students. It was told on this occasion that this was the third batch which encompasses 25,000 youth across the country. The earlier two batches, it was added, had also been accomplished successfully.
