LAHORE: A newlywed bride, found dead three-days after her marriage, had no strangling marks on her neck, revealed initial post-mortem report on Thursday.
Hira was married to her paternal cousin Tanveer four-days ago and was found dead in her house in Samanabad on Wednesday. The in-laws sent the bride’s body in a car back home and informed the police.
Police and forensic department personnel reached the groom’s house and started an investigation into the matter.
The groom, while speaking to a private news channel, said that he didn’t kill Hira. “Hira used to wear dupatta while sleeping, she might have been strangled by it during night,” he said.
After the deceased’s father filed an FIR under the murder charge, Tanveer was arrested and put behind bars. After the revelations of post-mortem report, the body has been sent to a forensic lab to check if she was fed any poisonous substances.
It is suspected that the girl was fed poison rather than being strangulated, according to hospital sources. It is being investigated if the victim ate poisonous substance or she was forcefully fed by her husband, said police sources.
Facts will be revealed once the forensics report is completed, added the police.
