PARACHINAR: In connection with the bomb blast that occured at Parachinar market, the authorities apprehended eight more suspects on Saturday. The total number of suspects that have been arrested with regard to the bomb blast are 15.
The blast took the lives of at least 27 people while injuring 87 others in Sabzi Mandi in Parachinar. Officials said that investigations were underway to arrest the elements behind the act.
Sources said that most of the people taken in custody by the authorities were daily wagers present at the spot in the morning after the explosion. Authorities said that the suspects who were taken into custody on Saturday were currently being interrogated.
Strict security measures have been taken up in Parachinar town as the administration has beefed up security in the area. All vehicles and passengers are checked when entering or leaving the town.
The local elders termed the statement of the interior minister and foreign minister absurd who blamed foreign intelligence agencies for the bombing.
A local elder, Shabbir Sajidi, in a statement said some banned outfits were involved in this act of terrorism. He said that instead of looking into the involvement of foreign agencies, investigators should grill the people who had brought vegetables to the market. He said the interior ministry was ignoring the issue to misguide the masses.
