An accountability court on Monday extended the physical remand of former president Asif Ali Zardari’s sister Faryal Talpur till July 22. The NAB presented Talpur before the court. Zardari was also present on the occasion. The prosecutors maintained that they were unable to interrogate Talpur due to her release on a production order. The former president asked the court to take his 90-day remand but release Talpur. Judge Arshad Malik refused the request. Later, the court extended the physical remand of Talpur for 14 days. The authorities are investigating 32 people, including Zardari and Talpur, in relation to alleged money laundering from fictitious accounts. Zardari’s close aide Hussain Lawai was arrested in July last year in connection with the probe. The former president’s other close aide and Omni Group Chairman Anwar Majeed and his son Abdul Ghani were arrested by the FIA in August last year.
