Referring to the presidential power to pardon a convict, President Mamnoon Hussain said on Wednesday that he could not provide relief to former premier Nawaz Sharif.
He was responding to a journalist’s question in London. The president, whose tenure is set to end in September, said that he would meet the former premier and the life-long leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in Adiala jail after his retirement. He repeated his stance on irregularities in the 2018 general elections and said that the Election Commission of Pakistan should address the reservations of opposition parties and should probe all rigging allegations.
