RAWALPINDI: Mehmood Khan Achakzai, chief of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) was not allowed to meet Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz’s (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif at Adiala Jail today.
Achakzai was accompanied by Senator Usman Kakar when they were both denied permission to meet. Achakzai told the media outside Adiala jail that he had been denied permission to meet Sharif every time he has tried in the past two weeks.
Achakzai argued that the Constitution grants all inmates the right to have visitors, and that this is no way to treat a three-time Prime Minister.
PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif is also on his way to Adiala Jail to meet Nawaz Sharif and discuss future prospects for the party. The remaining PML-N leadership, including Marriyam Aurangzeb, Abid Sher Ali, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Saad Rafique have also arrived.
Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to 11 years, Maryam Nawaz was sentenced to 8 years, and Capt. (retd) Safdar was sentenced to 1 year by an accountability court on July 6.
