Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said it is his party that can create a separate province in south Punjab.
He was reacting to the amalgamation of Janoobi Punjab Suba Mahaz (South Punjab Province Front) into the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday.
“Imran Khan says he will create a separate province within 100 days. We saw how he failed to fulfil the promises he made in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He made a promise to eliminate corruption and terrorism in 90 days, but failed.”
He said the PPP is the only party that first took a major step towards formation of a province in south Punjab by moving a bill in the Senate in this regard and recalled how those who are demanding a new province opposed the move at that time.
The PPP, he said, would create a separate province after coming into power, he announced.
To a question about Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s call to summon NAB chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal to parliament for ordering a money-laundering inquiry against former premier Nawaz Sharif, he said it was the prerogative of parliament to summon anyone. He said that the PPP wanted to bring reforms to the NAB laws, but Nawaz opposed them.
Bilawal said no one would take the former premier seriously as his demand for reforms centered around his personal interests.
