LAHORE: The father of the seven-year-old Zainab has slammed the police for “negligence in tracing out the culprit(s) in time” to save his daughter’s life.
Speaking to a private channel, Zainab’s father, Mohammad Ameen, said that prompt action by the police could have saved his daughter.
“The police showed negligence over the last five days. Prompt action by the police [in the days since her kidnapping] could have saved my daughter,” the grieving father said.
The police did not even seal or watch the [crime area] properly, he said. “I was not even in Pakistan when my daughter was kidnapped.”

Zainab’s father denied recognising the man shown in the CCTV video taking the eight-year-old Zainab with him. “No. We do not recognise the person in the CCTV video yet.”
He added that since the suspect was caught on tape then surely, in today’s age of technology the picture could have been optimised.“My daughter could have been rescued alive.”
Zainab’s father said that Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assured him that teams are investigating the crime and the culprit(s) will soon be caught and justice will be provided.
Zainab had been kidnapped six days ago while on her way to get Quran classes. When she didn’t return for a long time, the family started searching for her and also filed a report in the concerned police station but the dead body was found from a heap of garbage in Zaki Adda. Zainab’s parents were in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah when the incident took place.
