LAHORE: Eight more cases of the alleged abduction and torture of four policemen by protesters led by the Tehreek-e-Labaik Yah Rasool Allah Pakistan (TLY) and Sunni Tehreek Pakistan (ST) are registered by Islamabad police on Saturday.
However, the policemen kidnapped on Friday night, were set free early morning Saturday.
The sit-in protest has greatly disturbed life in Islamabad from last three days as the previously registered cases against protesters involve violence against journalists and breach of Section 144.
The FIR registered by police officers claimed that the protesters allegedly opened fire on them. However, the policemen had a narrow escape uninjured.
Hundreds of protesters gathered on the outskirts of Islamabad on Friday to oppose the recent omission of the Prophet Mohammad’s reference being the last prophet in a constitution bill that government maintained was a clerical error.
