ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the Interior and Information Technology Ministries and other concerned quarters to identify and act against the websites involved in uploading blasphemous content on the internet.
In its short order, a single bench of the court, headed by Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, directed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to look into the matter on merit.
The court also directed to bring five bloggers to justice for uploading blasphemous content on the social media. It asked Secretary Interior to take action according to the law against those who are involved in the heinous crime.
IHC also directed Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to evolve a clear mechanism for the removal of controversial content on the social media.
PTA was asked to launch an awareness campaign about legal punishments for uploading blasphemous and immoral content on the internet.
