KARACHI: The terrorists killed and arrested in Mehran Town, Korangi on Monday morning were involved in a number of attacks in Karachi, according to Counter Terrrorism Department (CTD) DIG Amir Farooqui.
“The terrorist who was shot dead was the head of a sleeper cell of the banned outfit, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi,”
Farooqui added “Four of his accomplices have also been arrested.”
A few years earlier, they had carried out terrorist attacks at Jinnah Hospital, near Kala Pul and Dehli Colony, the CTD official maintained that. “They had also facilitated the attack on SSP Chaudhry Aslam’s house.”
According to CTD Incharge Raja Umar Khatab the terrorist has been identified as Dildaar alias Chacha and he belonged to a banned outfit.
The official also added that Chacha was an expert in making explosive material.
The CTD acted upon a tip-off and raided a hideout where they killed one terrorist and arrested his aides and recovered large amounts of explosive material, detonators and also weapon caches.
Inspector General AD Khawaja visited CTD Civil Lines on Monday and announced a Rs 1 million award for the police contingent that raided the hideout and stated that the arrested terrorists were being investigated.
