BAHAWALPUR: The first phase of census 2017 in Bahawalpur will commence on March 15 and end on April 4, while the second phase will remain in operation from April 25 to May 25.
This was stated during a meeting to review the arrangements regarding conducting census in Bahawalpur district. Bahawalpur Deputy Commissioner Rana Saleem Afzal chaired the meeting, which was also attended by officers of the Pakistan Army, Mayor Aqeel Najam Hashmi, DPO Ashfaq Ahmad Khan and other officers and officials of the departments concerned. The statistics chief officer informed the meeting that during the first phase 1,908 officials would conduct census and house enumeration in 318 circles and 2,671 blocks, while during the second phase as many as 484 officials would conduct census and house enumeration in 103 circles and 985 blocks in the Cholistani area. The deputy commissioner urged the officials concerned to mobilise all available resources to protect the relevant record and other material of both census and house enumeration by establishing control rooms at the tehsil level. He further directed them to complete the training process for conducting census and house enumeration of the officials concerned who hail from armed forces and civilian departments.
Audio books for blind schoolchildren prepared: Audio books for the blind children of 9th and 10th classes have been prepared, which are available to the children at Government Secondary School for the Blind, Model Town ‘A’, Bahawalpur.
These books can be obtained using USB devices from the school free of cost during working hours.
Meanwhile, a seminar regarding women empowerment would be held at the Government Secondary School for the Blind, Model Town ‘A’. MPA Fouzia Ayub Qureshi would be the chief guest.
