Monsoon season is expected to be a blessing in disguise for Pakistani’s battling with scorching heat.
According to Pakistan Meteorological (Met) Department (PMD), Monsoon season will be starting in the last week of June.
Met officials said that North Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are likely to receive more rainfall than the average. However, PMD added that speculations are that a threat of urban flooding in cities also exists if the rainfall is more than usual.
Furthermore, Met director-general (DG) said that Sindh and Balochistan are expected to receive less rainfall than average. Whereas, Punjab, KP and Azad Kashmir will receive the most amount of rainfall.
PMD added that the monsoon rains will downpour on the southern areas of the country in July till August.
Met officials have already issued briefings to the National Disaster and Management Authority (NDMA) prior to the commencement of monsoon season.
The National Highway Authority (NHA) has also taken measures for restoration, maintenance and construction of roads before the monsoon season lashes out.
