GUJRANWALA: A patwari was held by anti-corruption officers for alleged misappropriation in taxes. It was said that after the result of an audit, misappropriation of thousands was found and Nowshera Virkan Revenue Officer Javed Ahmed referred the matter to anti-corruption for further investigation and fixation of responsibility. After investigation, it was revealed that Patwari Mehboob Ahmed was involved in the corruption and was arrested in a raid on Wednesday.
Cleanliness drive: Waste Management Company Managing Director Mehran Afzal said that in view of the upcoming Eid Miladun Nabbi, a special cleanliness campaign has been started in the city. He said all officials had been directed to ensure cleanliness in the city, and previously non-functional vehicles made functional for disposal of garbage throughout the city. He said that waste management company was facing a shortage of funds and staff but was trying its level best to achieve the target of a neat and clean city. Later, on the directions of MD, Operation Manager Muhammad Amir Mushtaq reviewed the cleanliness of procession routes. In other news, three labourers suffered burns while working at a furnace in Khiali. It was reported that Javed, Amir and Mushtaq working at a furnace hot material fell on them. Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to the DHQ hospital. Meanwhile, a married woman died by suicide over domestic issues in Kot Baqar. It was said that the woman, Samina, was having some domestic issues and swallowed poisonous pills on Wednesday. She was shifted to DHQ hospital but did not survive. Meanwhile, a woman died in a collision between a motorcycle and truck at Pindi Bypass. It was said that Zahida Perven was travelling with a relative on a motorcycle when a speeding truck hit them. Zahida died on the spot.
