LAHORE: After the Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal had extended the deadline for clerics’ demonstration in Islamabad to end the sit-in by 24 hours, the new deadline has also ended and media sources are reporting that a deal between the government and demonstrators is likely whereby the government will accept as many demands as possible.
The interior minister had also requested clerics to step in and mediate so that the sit-in that has made it extremely difficult for locals could end. Answering the government’s call, Pir of Golhra Sharif arrived at the sit-in location and negotiated with the protestors and communicated the demands to the government.
Reportedly, the government has also made the protestors an offer accepting most of their demands but the exact terms are not yet reported. Reportedly, there has been development in negotiations taking place at federal minister Raja Zafarul Haq’s residence in the federal capital and a deal is likely.
