ATTOCK: A technocrat or undemocratic government cannot resolve the issues being faced by Pakistan, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said after inaugurating an oil and gas project in Attock on Friday.
“The masses are cognisant of the incumbent government’s performance and they will make their decision [by casting their votes] in the 2018 general elections,” said Abbasi.
The premier said that development in the country was only possible in a democratic set up. “No force other than democracy can deliver in the country,” he said, adding: “We will have to work hard to strengthen democracy.”
Abbasi, who took over the PM’s Office after disqualification of Nawaz Sharif, claimed that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) performance during the last four years was better than the work done [by the former governments] in the last 15 years.
He said that the PML-N government had made significant success in the oil and gas sector as 103 projects had been undertaken in the past four years. He said that the government despite numerous challenges had added 10,000MW of electricity to the national grid.
Abbasi vowed to continue to the policies of Nawaz Sharif and put the country on the road to progress. He said that the people would decide in 2018 as to who could serve them better in the days ahead, and take the country forward.
