LAHORE: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran khan in a contempt case on Thursday.
A five-member bench of the top poll supervisory body announced the decision to ensure the presence of the PTI chief before the bench on October 26.
The decision came during the contempt of court hearing against Khan on a petition filed by the ex-party leader Akbar S Babar.
The bench also rejected Khan’s reply that was submitted earlier and ordered authorities to bring PTI Chief on the next hearing.
However, khan’s lawyer Babar Awan has challenged the Commission’s jurisdiction to hear the case and announced that he will file a petition against the verdict in Islamabad High Court (IHC).
He also accused ECP of targeting PTI and Imran Khan.
