SAHIWAL: Police on Sunday foiled a bid to ‘vani’ a child to settle a rape case. DSP Amjad Javed Kambho said that an underage girl was being married on the orders a panchayat in village 114/7-R of Chichawatni tehsil in Sahiwal district. Police arrested four people, including the groom and nikkah khawan. Cases have been registered against 10 others, the DSP said. Separately, a teenage girl was abducted and gang-raped on Sunday. According to details, a gang of culprits abducted and raped the girl near Kabirwala. The victim was taken to hospital. She later told police that the accused had also tried to cut off her leg and had threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the assault. Police arrested one suspect after registering a case.
