BAHAWALPUR: Pakistan Day was celebrated in Bahawalpur Garrison with zeal, zest and fervour.
Buildings were illuminated at night and the Pakistani flag was hoisted on all important buildings. Later in the day major military equipment was displayed in Polo Ground, Noor Mahal. National songs played by military band added enthusiasm to the day. Stalls for face painting, national flags and eatables made the event more attractive.
A large number of military and civilian guests and their families attended the display.
Meanwhile, a night function was also arranged at Darbar Mahal. General Officer Commanding 35 Division Major General Amjad Khattak appreciated the organisers for arranging the ceremony to celebrate Pakistan Day.
In Noor Mahal, General Officer Commanding 26 Mechanized Division Major General Akhtar Nawaz graced the occasion as chief guest.
The event was planned with a focus on reviving national spirit and celebrating the occasion to the utmost. Light and Sound show, aimed at bringing life to the magnificent Noor Mahal, was also arranged for the guests. The event was finally capped with national songs and tableaus presented by schoolchildren with elegant Noor Mahal in the background.
Separately, a ceremony held in connection with “Pakistan Day Celebrations” organised by District Administration Bahawalpur. Chief guest Provincial Minister for Cooperative Iqbal Channar said Pakistan Day warrants to pledge again to fully adhere to the vision of founding fathers by mobilizing all available resources to turn Pakistan into a liberal, progressive and modern welfare state.
