ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan will continue to support all initiatives for regional peace and stability.
He said this while talking to United Kingdom Home Secretary Amber Rudd who called on him in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Nawaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to facilitate and support an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace and reconciliation process. He stressed the need for enhancing cooperation in trade and investment between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
The UK home secretary said her country would continue extending all possible support and assistance to efforts made for regional peace.
Meanwhile, talking to outgoing Saudi Ambassador Abdullah Marzouq Al-Zahrani in Islamabad, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had always stood by each other in testing times. He said the people of Pakistan deeply valued “our strong bonds with Saudi Arabia”.
The prime minister said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoyed very close relations that were marked by commonalities on all matters of mutual interest at the regional and international levels.
The prime minister appreciated the outgoing ambassador for his efforts and contributions towards further strengthening the existing cordial and brotherly relationship between the two countries.
The prime minister conveyed his good wishes for the custodian of the two Holy Mosques, Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud, as well as for the progress and prosperity of the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The ambassador thanked the prime minister for the warmth and hospitality extended to him during his stay in Pakistan.
