KARACHI: The provincial capital’s prosecution department on Monday organised an across the board strike in the city and Malir courts.
The employees protested against authorities’ failure to pay them their due basic allowances including medical and utility allowances for the past seven years.
In addition, the protestors said that the department’s staff had not been promoted for the past five years.
A petition, filed in the Sindh High Court by the protesting lawyers and officers, is scheduled to be heard on Monday as well.
Assistant District Public Prosecutor Iqbal Solangi and District Public Prosecutor Rana Khalid are slated to attend the hearing.
Speaking to media Solangi said, “We will continue a token strike tomorrow and call a complete strike if the government fails to meet our demands.”
The department had been observing a two-hour token strike daily for the past 11 days while their demands remained unheard.
