ISLAMABAD: The Panama Leaks case hearing resumed on Thursday headed by a five-member larger bench of Supreme Court led by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa.
The hearing postponed for a few days because of poor health conditions of Justice Azmat Saeed.
Hassan and Hussain Nawaz’s counsel Salman Akram Raja continued his arguments. He said that the Panama case had three aspects; Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s speech, official records and steps taken by Nawaz Sharif.
He argued that Sharif family lost several official records during its exile. “It is not possible to present 45-year-old records,” he said.
He said that there was no charge against Nawaz and action against his children was not possible. He added that in order for a proper investigation to be held, it could be sent to agencies.
On being asked about money trail for London flat, he argued that Hussain Nawaz had purchased them through money obtained from his grandfather’s business.
He said that London flats were transferred to Hussain Nawaz in January 2006, but previously they were owned by the Al-Thani family between 1993 and 1996.
In July, the certificated were transferred to the Minerva firm.
Regarding investigation reports by former interior minister Rehman Malik about the flats, Salman Akram Raja said, “Rehman Malik had sent a copy of the report to the president and revealed it to media. But the report has no legal standing,” adding that it had earlier been rejected by the Lahore High Court.
