BAHAWALPUR: Speakers at a workshop have said that peaceful, tolerant and progressive societal framework is vital to sharpen the pace of an egalitarian polity which requires active, vigorous and vibrant participation of the youth. The concluding session of the two-day workshop – Peace Building and Promoting Art and Culture – was held at the Rashidia Auditorium. Bahawalpur Arts Council Resident Director Rana Ajaz, Information Deputy Director Nasir Hameed, Interactive Resource Centre Director Muhammad Waseem, and Prof Dr Shahzad Rana were the main speakers of the workshop. The ceremony was also attended by journalist Sumera Danish and IRC coordinator Athar Jahania. On the occasion, Rana Ajaz said that the enthusiastic participation of the students at the workshop was practical reflection of the collective and vigorous engagement to counter the forces of darkness, extremism and terrorism by practically supporting the National Action Programme. Nasir Hameed said that the art promote cultural pluralism which binds different segments of the society through strong and effective linkages. He paid rich tributes to the organisers of the workshop for promoting art and literature. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Shahzad Rana maintained that the extra-curricular activities sharpen the esthetic and intellectual faculty of the youth. Muhammad Waseem said that the Interactive Resource Centre has designed training manuals to impart training in various disciplines which include photography, visual art, painting, music, interactive theatre and the citizen journalism.
