ISLAMABAD: A strong protest was recorded by members in the senate on Friday over blocking the National Identity Cards of more than 400,000 Pakhtoon nationals.
Senate members demanded immediate measures in this regard from the government.
Senator Usman Khan Kakar said that an estimated 400,000 ID cards had been blocked of which 90 per cent belonged to Pakhtoons.
He also pointed out that the identity cards of people with beards and turbans had been blocked. The present government was victimising Pakhtoons, he added.
The people whose cards are blocked can neither withdraw money from banks nor send their children to educational institutes, he said.
