ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has taken notice of death of five infants at Civil Hospital Mithi due to malnutrition and diseases. The notice was taken on a news item published in a section of media highlighting that more 11,000 ailing children were brought to six health facilities in the Mithi District for treatment since the beginning of 2017. The news stated that at least five infants lost their lives due to malnutrition and diseases at Civil Hospital Mithi, raising this year’s death toll to 64. The news story further stated that main vulnerabilities pertaining to water crises, health care and remoteness were the most crucial factors and the parents complained of lack of facilities at hospitals. The CJP has called a report from the Sindh chief secretary and Sindh government within 36 hours. Meanwhile, he visited Justice (r) Rafique Tarar’s house to extend condolences on the demise of his son-in-law Mubashir Ullah in Lahore. On Saturday, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar took notice of the lynching of Mashal Khan, a student of Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan, by a mob over alleged blasphemy charges. The notice was taken on a news item published in a section of press containing the details of the incident. Taking notice of the matter, the chief justice sought a report from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police inspector general (IG) within 36 hours. The 23-year-old youth was killed on Thursday at Wali Khan University by a vigilante mob for allegedly publishing blasphemous content online.
